Festival Vocal Auditions
The Greater Saint Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau seeks creative, diverse, and energetic storytellers to help bring history to life as singers during the 2021 Halloween and Christmas celebrations along historic Main Street.
FESTIVAL SINGERS Auditions: By appointment Sunday, May 16th and Thursday, May 20th. Sign up for an audition time slot HERE.
Audition Location: Saint Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau (lower level) 230 South Main Street Saint Charles, MO 63301.
Compensation: All positions start at the rate of $11.19 an hour for all rehearsals and performances.
Role Requirements: Singing roles require an outgoing, creative personality, a strong sense of teamwork, a solid musical ability to maintain a harmony line and memorize a musical repertoire. Vocalists should be comfortable developing a character persona and interacting “in character” with festival guests. Both Legends & Lanterns™ and Saint Charles Christmas Traditions® are all-weather festivals that take place entirely outdoors. Positions will require long periods of standing/walking in a variety of weather conditions.
These festivals feature vocal groups of several different types. Saint Charles Christmas Traditions® currently presents Victorian SATB quartets, modern SATB quartets and SSA/SSAA/TTBB trios/quartets. Those ensembles sing music appropriate to the historical period of their group and in the vocal stylings of that period. Auditioning singers may be considered for an open position in any appropriate group. Legends and Lanterns™ features both a mixed quintet (the Angry Villagers) and an SSAA quartet (The Ghouling Stones). Those groups sing selections themed to the season and its characters. Singers cast in either festival will also be expected to develop specific characters as they interact with the festival guests throughout the day.
Legends & Lanterns™: A “Spirited” Journey Through Halloween History
Heading into its sixth season, Legends & Lanterns™ brings to life some of the most iconic and infamous villains, witches, and phantoms from history and folklore. They have decided to make Main Street their new favorite “haunt”…but don’t worry, these silly apparitions have more treats to offer than tricks, and they look forward to entertaining “little monsters” of all ages.
