A Second Act

Visit the Grand Opera House (311 North Main) for an exhibit about the history of the iconic Goldenrod Showboat that entertained audiences for years along the St. Charles riverfront.

Jake Mefford, the curator of the collection of Goldenrod archives, will be displaying costumes, props, photos, and architectural details from the ill-fated 1909 floating theatre.

You can also take in the Disney film Back to Hannibal, which was filmed using Historic Main Street as its backdrop.

Seats from the Strand Theatre will be on display and a vignette on the History of Theatre & Performing Arts in St. Charles will entertain you. This show will feature a piano accompanist and two turn-of-the-century showboat performers. Using music and stories to take visitors on a musical retrospective of the performing arts in the city's history.
