Day One - Wine & Welcome

 

Afternoon

  • Check-in to a charming bed-and-breakfast, vineyard-view cottage, or stylish vacation rental in Augusta or Defiance, the perfect home base for your getaway.
  • Kick-off the afternoon at Defiance Ridge Vineyards - share a bottle of Parson House Chardonel with the Farmers Board - featuring local meats and chesses, candied nuts, dried fruits, pickled veggies, olives, course grain mustard, and crusty bread.
  • Head over to Montelle Winery for the best view of America's First AVA - and live music every Saturday and Sunday. Step into the tasting room for a little wine time, sample four wines to discover your favorite, then take up residence outside for a beautiful sunset view.

Early Evening

  • Stop by Sugar Creek Winery for beautiful vineyard views and a glass or two of Michael's Signature Red, a full bodied dry red blend with chocolate and cherry tones. While your there, check out the Tasting Bar for Distillery of Defiance, the "spirited" sister of Sugar Creek and get a cocktail made with Judgement Tree Vodka!
  • Head back to your wine country lodging to relax and recharge.

 

Day Two- Coffee, Wine, & Shopping

 

Morning

  • Head to Augusta to fuel up on coffee and a pastry at the Coffee Shop at the The Augusta Emporium, then shop a selection of seasonal gifts and collectibles at the Emporium.
  • Once your re-energized, stroll up the street to visit the Wandering Owl Gift Shop - run by the Augusta Chamber of Commerce this cute boutique stocks up on seasonal items, Augusta themed goodies, and one-of-a-kind items created by local vendors. 
  • If you're group is looking for an opportunity to find classic "wine-county" casual clothing or the latest fashion find, look no further than than The Augusta Clothing Company.
  • Just around the corner is Stone Ledge Antiques, the perfect spot to explore before lunch and sampling!

Afternoon

  • Since you're already in Augusta, it's the perfect time to explore the regions oldest winery, Mount Pleasant Estates. With breathtaking views and a sprawling campus, Mount Pleasant is the perfect spot for an afternoon of plein-air conversation and award-winning wine. When you're ready, get lunch at the Appellation Cafe - the perfect accompaniment for your river valley view. 
  • After you've explored Mount Pleasant, head over to the tasting room at Noboleis Vineyards - try their customizable Wine Flight to discover your favorite before you head out to the vineyard to contemplate the day and your experiences in Historic Missouri Wine Country over a glass (or bottle) of Dry Rose or Vidal Blanc.

Evening

  • Hungry for dinner? Head for Defiance and Good News Brewery -  reminisce on the memories made and take in the views from the rooftop deck while sharing a few wood fired pizzas (we suggest Vampires Death Wish - with the addition of sausage!) and a few craft brews for something different.
