Hays Home at Matson Hill Park

  • 3572 Stub Rd., Hwy. F, Defiance, MO 63341

The Hays Home at Matson Hill Park is open and is the newest attraction in St. Charles County Parks! You’ll enjoy a historic adventure when you visit this newly developed area of the park and tour the beautiful 1830’s stone dwelling once owned by the grandson of Missouri pioneer Daniel Boone. The home features a new interpretive center with artifacts and displays that showcase the Hays and Boone families. Upon arrival, park interpretive staff will greet guests outside and give an overview of the property surrounding the historic house. During these educational experiences, guests will learn about the history of the Hays family and the story of the land established in the scenic Femme Osage valley and how it relates to the rich history of the region. Admission is free; the home is open from 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Saturday; and 12–4:30 p.m., Sunday. While you’re there, visit The Historic Daniel Boone Home, located just 2 miles down the road off Highway F. For more information about these homes, call The Historic Daniel Boone Home at 636-798-2005 for more information or visit stccparks.org
