One lane on westbound Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Missouri River Bridge will be closed from 2:30 p.m. through evening rush hour tonight January 31 for emergency repairs to a broken drain grate. Motorists are advised to avoid westbound I-70 for evening rush and use Route 370 or Route 364 as alternate Missouri River crossings.  The additional lane reduction will leave only two lanes open for westbound I-70.

Both directions of I-70 are already reduced from five lanes in each direction down to three lanes in each direction and all traffic is using the eastbound bridge.  Crews are completing a major rehabilitation project on the 1958 westbound Blanchette Bridge.   The westbound bridge closed in early November and scheduled to be complete in fall 2013.

Motorists are advised to slow down in the work zone and obey the posted 45 mph speed limit.  For more information on the I-70 Blanchette Bridge rehabilitation project, go to www.modot.org/blanchettebridge.
