MoDOT and its contractor Walsh Construction have rescheduled the closure of the ramp from westbound Interstate 70 to southbound Fifth Street for Monday, June 17.

The closure will begin starting at 8 p.m. Monday, June 17 until Monday, July 8 for bridge repair work. The westbound I-70 bridge over Fifth Street is being rehabilitated and resurfaced as part of the westbound I-70 Blanchette Missouri River Bridge project. Three lanes of westbound I-70 will remain open and the ramp from westbound I-70 to northbound Fifth Street will remain open during this three week closure.

On Monday, June 17, crews will close one lane of westbound I-70 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday morning to set up the work zone and close the ramp to southbound Fifth Street. Only two lanes will be open to traffic on westbound I-70 overnight Monday, June 17. Three lanes will be back open for I-70 traffic by 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to access southbound Fifth Street and Veterans Memorial Parkway (the south outer road of I-70).  Motorists can exit westbound I-70 to northbound Fifth Street, turn right on Ameristar Blvd, right on South Main and then either take a right on Lombard Street or a right on S River Road. Another option would be to exit westbound I-70 at northbound Fifth Street and go to the light at Boone's Lick Road. Turn left on Boone's Lick Road and left on Fairgrounds to access Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Westbound motorists could also avoid the I-70 work zone altogether and use Route 364 Missouri River Bridge crossing and exit at Arena Parkway to get to Fifth Street.

Motorists are advised to slow down in the work zone and obey the posted 45 mph speed limit. For more information on the I-70 Blanchette Bridge rehabilitation project, go to .
