Repairs to the Interstate 70 bridge over Earth City Expressway will impact traffic the next two weekends, weather permitting.  On each of these weekends, two lanes will be closed on I-70 and various ramps will be closed.  The lanes that remain open will be narrowed and the speed limit will be reduced. The repairs to the I-70 bridge over Earth City Expressway are included in the Missouri Department of Transportation's contract on the I-70 Blanchette Bridge with Walsh Construction Co.

Work has already occurred at this interchange two previous weekends.  The contractor was hoping to complete all the repairs in just one more weekend, but there is more work needed than can occur in one weekend.  Therefore, the schedule has been extended through the next two weekends.

The I-70 bridge over Earth City Expressway schedule will include closures beginning at approximately 7 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday for each of the following weekends:

  • July 27-29 - two lanes closed westbound I-70, one lane closed eastbound and the closure of westbound I-70 exit to Earth City south and the ramp from Earth City north to westbound I-70.   The weekend includes a Verizon Amphitheatre concert on Friday with Rascal Flatts.

  • All ramps to get to the concert will remain open until 30 minutes after the official concert start time.  MoDOT is coordinating with local law enforcement and Verizon to assist in directing traffic exiting the concert.

  • August 3-5 - two lanes closed eastbound I-70, one lane closed westbound and the closure of eastbound I-70 exit to Earth City north and the on ramp from Earth City south to eastbound I-70.  There is not a concert at Verizon Amphitheatre on this weekend.

Motorists attending the concerts or other activities and businesses along Earth City Expressway are encouraged to use Route 370 or Route 364 (Page Avenue) to access the area.
