Fisherman’s Bliss

With more than 30 lakes, both large and small, this expansive conservation area is extremely popular with fishing hobbyists, offering anglers a vast variety of fishing experiences. Each lake has its own unique “buffet” of fish species, such as catfish, crappie, black bass, white bass, and sunfish. Trout is also available, and can be found in several lakes from November through February. In need of disability-friendly fishing accommodations? Click here to explore their interactive map, which includes accessible lakes and areas. An on-site vendor enables visitors to purchase permits, bait, and fishing supplies along with drinks and snacks from April through October.

Fun with Foraging

The area is also extremely popular with foragers. When conditions are just right, the elusive Morel Mushroom can even be found on park grounds. Nuts, berries, fruits, mushrooms, and wild greens may be foraged and taken from the park for personal use.
