As soon as you walk into The Potted Plant, you’ll be surrounded by plants, pots, and garden accessories that cover the shop from top to bottom. From tropical plants like monsteras and alocasias to succulents like aloe and cacti, and several shelves of air plants with creative pots, nearly every kind of houseplant can be found here. Even rare, hard-to-find plants like thai constellations and syngonium podophyllyum albos (variegated arrowhead plant) can be found amongst their shelves. They also have an assortment of fun colorful pots to liven up your space and make it pop.

Parkview Gardens has a rich local history that traces back to over a century ago. With a passion for spreading the love of flowers and gardening to the St. Charles community, owners Tom and Holly have kept the tradition alive and grow a variety of plants here in town. Pansies, perennials, mums, and even poinsettias during the holiday season can be found in their 11 greenhouses. Parkview Gardens is also a flower shop that specializes in making flower arrangements for any occasion. There’s nothing that they can’t do when it comes to plants!

Miss Folia Plant Co. is located inside of 337 by La Roserie on Main Street St. Charles. Their colorful display creates a bold, funky look. With a wall full of pots and plants in unique pots like tea kettles, vases, and even an upside down desk lamp, you’ll feel inspired to make your space look just as fun. A variety of different plants are available like spider plants, succulents, and cacti. Miss Folia Plant Co. also has a robust online store and a mobile plant shop that attends local festivals and events.

 

FONSECA’S FARM AND GREENHOUSES

This family owned business is more than just a nursery. They also sell homegrown produce including 12 types of heirloom tomatoes. Not only do they have a wide variety of produce, but they’re also known for their variety in the garden section. Fonseca’s has 15 varieties of petunias, over 100 different flower baskets, and in the fall, they have two shades of every color mum available. Fonseca’s partners with a palm tree grower in Florida for their tropical plants to transport you to the beach right in your yard. Find every color of perennials, annuals, tropical plants, and houseplants at Fonseca’s when they open for the season in early April.

The Bee Garden Center has you covered with a wide selection of Missouri-native plants. Or, do you want to grow your own garden? They have vegetable plants, herb plants, and fruit-bearing shrubs available for you to grow food right in your yard. Only open from April to early-to-mid June, take advantage and make a visit (or two or three) to find high-quality plants that suit your yard.

 

PONDS PLUS WATER GARDEN CENTER

Thinking about adding a decorative pond to your yard this year? What about maintaining your current one? Ponds Plus Water Garden Center off of South Old Highway 94 has you covered. They have a wide selection of fish, water plants, plumbing parts, and more to keep your pond looking beautiful and running smoothly all season long. Add color to the pond with their selection of lotus and tropical lilies. Dot your pond with purple, pink, and white flowers to bring it to life. Ponds Plus Water Garden Center is open seven days a week from March to October.

Sunflower Hill Farm

The picturesque Sunflower Hill Farm is a family-owned wedding and event venue that doubles as a multi-functioning farm in Historic Missouri Wine Country. They host an annual plant sale in their greenhouse that includes annuals, perennials, herbs, veggies, succulents, and more such as hanging baskets and pre-potted terracotta arrangements to elevate your space. Don't forget to grab a bite to eat from the café while you're there. Their menu includes coffees, teas, salads, and sandwiches that feature produce grown in the gardens on-site. We recommend enjoying a meal on their patio that overlooks the grounds from atop a hill.
