Whether you’re looking to eat healthier, seeking to nourish your body and soul with fresh, plant-based meals, or embracing a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle, St. Charles has several cafés that will satisfy your needs. And don’t worry, they don’t just serve bowls of lettuce. Check out the diverse menus at these cafés that are sure to make even omnivores drool.

The large windows at Rootbound give customers a front row seat to Historic Main Street St. Charles. Located at 215 N Main Street, Rootbound is where healthy food meets robust flavor. With juices packed with nutrition, rejuvenating health shots (like the awakening shot), and fresh smoothies, Rootbound has a wide menu with plenty of options to make you feel refreshed. Their menu also caters to diverse tastes, boasting gluten-free pesto, tikka masala, southwest quinoa bowl, gluten and dairy-free waffles, cheesecake, cupcakes, and more. You can get your greens in at any meal of the day here.

Bike Stop Cafe Outside

Bike Stop Café

Bike Stop Café provides an elevated plant-based experience that is perfect for a lovely breakfast, lunch with friends, or a pit stop while you’re exploring the Katy Trail. Bike gear adorns the far wall and the bright, spacious interior opens up to a large patio with a view of both Saint Charles Main Street and the Missouri River. Bike Stop Café’s menu is mostly vegetarian with some vegan options including an all-day breakfast menu with dishes named after bike-related terms like the Big Wheel (a grilled house made bagel with eggs, cheddar-jack cheese, and ranch), the Schwinn Sandwich (eggs, Havarti, tomato, and red onion on house made bread), and more. Refuel after a bike ride on the trail or a grueling day at work with one of their sandwiches, wraps, or salads paired with a coffee, tea, or smoothie (also available in “boozy” form). Don’t forget to get some of Jodi’s Famous Peanut Butter Balls while you visit; they’re famous for a reason!
